As an active nonprofit organization, the CRQ Guild offers many opportunities for involvement in the guild activities and participation in a variety of community outreach projects, while expanding your quilting talents and knowledge. There are committees, special interest groups, special projects, local and national speakers’ programs and classes, a DVD Library, retreats, social events, newsletters, and of course, the biennial Quilt Show. All are designed to grow the membership and to expand the scope of quilting. Scroll through our website to see more about all that is offered.
Meetings These are held on the first and third Thursdays of each month at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church located at 1839 NE 8th Ave. Ocala, FL 34470. Times: 6 p.m. social time and meetings begin at 7 p.m. If you are interested in becoming a member, you are encouraged to attend a meeting as our guest.
Committees The guild maintains a premier community donation outreach to maintain its nonprofit status. The Community Services Committee has ongoing projects such as Quilts of Valor, friendship quilts, pillowcases, Foley bag covers, and duffle bags. The members’ dedication to making these projects helps serve those in Hospice, domestic violence shelters, and Kids Central that assists in foster care and adoption. The Animal Services Committee provides pet beds, blankets and cage curtains for our furry friends.
Special Interest Groups We offer these in the areas of Art, Miniature, and Wool where exploration of various techniques is encouraged and friendship is enjoyed. Choose the GROUPS link above for more information and to see their projects.
National Speakers/Classes Once a year we host a nationally recognized quilt teacher with a lecture and a class, where they teach their technique. Past special guests have been David Taylor, Pat Knoechel, Sue Cleveland, Bonnie Hunter, Pat Sloan, Pam Buda, Kim Diehl, Lynne Hagmeier, and Deb Tucker’s Studio 180.
Special Projects A yearly challenge quilt is held with a selected theme and guidelines. The guild sponsors a quarterly Food Drive for the St. Mark’s United Methodist Church Food Pantry. Together/Apart Memorial Quilt. Our resilient guild met the challenges of being apart during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown by creating a memorial quilt that represents our strength and perseverance.
Quilt Show This is a biennial event that showcases the members’ beautiful quilt making talents. There are many opportunities where members are expected to contribute their time for a successful show.
